      Joyful Catholic Journeys began as a travel group focusing on travel of interest to the Catholic community, especially in Oklahoma. Today it is a lively, burgeoning division of Travel Overtures.

      "Joyful Catholic Journeys obviously fills a need in the Catholic community," said Roewe, " It's normal for people to want to share travel experiences with like-minded individuals, those with whom they can relate spiritually as well as socially. as a family which in many ways they are."

     Roewe experienced first-hand the tremendous impact religious, or faith-based travel, can have on an individual when she hosted a pilgrimage to Medugorje, Bosnia-Herzegovina, in March of 2008.

     “It was undoubtedly one of the most profound, life-altering events in my life. I agreed to put a group together and travel with them. I was curious about the reports on the alleged apparitions of Mary, Christ's mother, that have been spreading since the alleged start of the phenomena in June of 1981. I went as a travel agent/group leader escorting a group of devout persons and ended up returning transformed by the experience. Something is definitely happening there, in Medugorje. The reverence, the peace, the throngs packed into St. James for hours upon hours, every Mass, Holy Hour, or Benediction and Exposition...People standing in line for hours just to go to confession. When the church is too full for all who come, the priests bring Holy Communion to the faithful gathered outside participating in the Mass on the church plaza. Incredible! I can't begin to recount all that I experienced while there. I can tell you that in my opinion, if the Apparitions are false, then Satan is responsible for uncountable conversions and returns to the Church. Somehow, I just don't think those results are part of his modus operandi.

"People have asked me when am I going back, can they go, and would I put together a trip to ‘here’ or ‘there’ for them, with like-minded Catholics. They like the idea of traveling in groups, and favor traveling in a Christian environment, especially with others of their own faith. Plus, they want to know that no matter the itinerary, activities are suitable for all ages. That fact is important to families. Another important factor is the added safety and security of traveling with a group.”

     Roewe said requests for group travel have ranged from multi-family cruises and land vacations to national and international pilgrimages. Her personalized services include both customized and pre-planned trips ranging from regional one-day to multi-day itineraries as well as cruises, fly-drive and train excursions, national and international. Group tours can be organized for churches, private travel clubs, parish ladies’, men’s, and youth groups, RV caravans, families, and more. 

      Tour features include:

  • state of the art motorcoach transportation provided by properly insured and permitted reputable motorcoach companies;
  • assurance that all entertainment, on the coach as well as itinerary inclusions, is wholesome and appropriate for all ages;
  • luggage assistance at all hotel properties;
  • meals and admission to attractions and events clearly noted on each itinerary, and
  • opportunities to attend Mass.

Arrangements can be made for priests accompanying a group to travel free!

In addition, professional tour conductors accompany all groups on the pre-planned tours and are available for customized tours. A Certified International Tour Manager. herself, Roewe is a graduate of the International Tour Guide/International Tour Manager Academy of Denver, Colorado.
